The goal of this styled shoot was to show midwest brides that it is possible to create a stunning west coast inspired elopement without the cost of long-distance travel. Putting together a team of local midwest vendors, we channeled handmade details such as flower crowns, floral arches, hand-lettered announcements, and a trio of cakes into a magical lakeside experience sure to thrill any boho romantic spirit.

Several weeks before the shoot, Bryan and I took our dog and hiked the many trails and beaches of Indiana Dunes State Park in Chesterton, IN to scout out the perfect location for our boho elopement styled shoot. There are so many amazing options for locations, with varying degrees of difficulty to hike to. We ultimately chose a fairly easy hike up the beach to a location closer to the water, versus up on top of a dune, in order to help make access to the shoot easier with so many vendors involved in the setup.

Adventure elopements make my heart burst with joy!
We planned this most stunning adventure elopement editorial shoot on the shores of Lake Michigan to fulfill the longing of adventure without having to travel far from our midwest home. A stunning ceremony arch nestled in the dunes with only the wind and waves for company, and perfect views for miles, sounds like the perfect place to exchange vows with your loved one. The beautiful location lent itself well to the theme for the shoot. It definitely took some effort to haul the florals, decor items, tablescape, cakes, and arch out to our location, but in the end it was perfect. Our models (and real-life husband and wife) Kim and Kristin, were absolute troopers hiking out in their wedding clothes and brought the perfect amount of beauty, grace, and love to the serene landscape.
